A compassionate space for healing and growth.
A compassionate space for healing and growth.
I'm Emma, a qualified and registered person-centred counsellor based in Elgin, Moray. Using a compassionate and curious approach, I support individuals in the growth and understanding of themselves. I empower clients to discover their potential and the agency they have over their own life.
It's a privilege to be given access to my clients worlds and one I'll never take for granted. To be a witness to the process of their growth and change is profoundly meaningful to me, especially since I have been on the other side of the counselling room, and know the courage it takes to work through what feels hard to face.
Outside of my work, I'm a mum and wife and very much in the thick of my own life's mayhem and magic. I love where we live and frequently head to the beach or the mountains in my spare time. If I've got time to myself, I can often be found with my head in a book, or pottering about in my garden.
Counselling is a collaborative process where we work together as you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I'll remain unintrusive as we go about this, giving you the time and space to reconnect with yourself, and share your unique story in your own time and in your own way.
My focus is not on offering you advice or telling you what you should do, especially as I don't know more about you than you know about yourself. Instead, my focus is on connecting to your experience, and understanding things as you understand them.
I aim to establish a foundation of safety and trust with you, so that you feel able to speak freely, and leave your sessions feeling valued, respected and understood.
How counselling can help you
It's my belief that when we experience being consistently valued, compassionately held, and fully accepted, this allows us to explore what's going on for us more deeply. It's through this process you may meet aspects of yourself which have been denied for a long time, and this deserves to be met without judgement.
Making the decision to have counselling is a brave and courageous move towards supporting your emotional health and personal growth, and it's a first and positive step towards the changes you're seeking.
Talking through what you are experiencing can help you to grow in self-awareness, build resilience, and foster compassion and acceptance for yourself.
